Juvenille Football
U12 Weekend Round-Up
Under bright sunshine in St. Catherine’s Park, Lucan Sarsfields’ U12s kicked off a busy weekend of action with a thrilling 1-8 to 0-7 win over Na Fianna. The boys started sharply, with Aaron striking early to set the tone. Patrick and Locky were immense in defence, while Joe pulled off several fine saves to keep the opposition at bay. Jack Butler’s accuracy from frees and Sam’s clever link-up play helped Lucan edge a narrow half-time lead. In the second half, Cillian O’Hara’s brace of points and a late goal from Jude sealed a well-deserved victory after a tremendous team effort full of commitment and skill.
The squad backed that up with another superb display against St Brendan’s in Grangegorman. Lucan led 2-4 to 1-1 at the break after some great attacking play and precise finishing. The second half was even stronger — quick early scores built momentum before a string of excellent saves from the goalkeeper maintained control. Lucan dominated the closing stages, adding several well-worked goals with sharp passing moves down both flanks to close out a convincing 7-6 to 1-5 win. The game was played in great spirit, with both sides showing fine skill, teamwork and determination.
On Saturday, Lucan’s third outing of the weekend saw them face Naomh Olaf, with the team again showing big improvements in focus and communication. From the warm-up, the players were switched on and worked the ball well through quick hand passing and strong teamwork. The defence stood up brilliantly to sustained pressure, with excellent clearances and some outstanding saves from the Lucan goalkeeper. The second half brought a surge of energy as Lucan pressed high and took their scores with confidence, backed by tireless work rate and brave blocking across the pitch.
Overall, it was an outstanding weekend of football from the U12 group — full of effort, teamwork, and growing confidence. The boys are clearly building on their training, showing great spirit and togetherness in every match. 💚🖤
