Christmas Gala
Our Christmas gala took place on Saturday night and was a huge success.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing organizers Sara Hickey, Maggie Mulqueen, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the night to make it happen. Your dedication and effort made the evening so special for everyone.
Lotto
We had no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot of €2,200. The Numbers were 9, 15, 27 & 28. Lucky dip’s go to Sean McClelland, Nicola Miller, Tony Rignet, Dave Marten, Brian Karney. This week’s Lotto will be for a jackpot of €2,600. This draw is sponsored by Lucan Village Pharmacy and will be led by Diarmuid Dawson.
Hurling
Our Minor Hurlers secured the Minor A Championship in O’Toole Park on Sunday morning against a strong St. Jude’s side winning out on a scoreline of 4-13 to 2-13. A massive well done to all players and management (match report below)
Match Report
Lucan struck first when Jack Mills finished a move to the net inside the opening minute. The score settled the nerves and set the tone after an intense passage of play where possession was repeatedly turned over and won back. Lucan responded well when Judes pointed, with a stylish effort from David Coakley after a fine catch and over-the-shoulder strike. The forwards, led by the work rate of Henry Greene, Oscar Brennan and Micheal O’Brien, pressed relentlessly, while backs Killian Costello, Karl Quinn and Danny Ryan delivered quality ball forward, even if that early dominance was not fully reflected on the scoreboard.
In the 10th minute, a long free from Costello caused chaos in the Judes square and Paidi Murphy reacted quickest, kicking and then pulling on the ball on the ground to find the net. Lucan mixed long and short puck-outs effectively through goalkeeper Evan Flynn, with Patrick Cosgrove and Brian Whelan taking several short restarts and using possession well. Lucan closed out the first quarter with a Mills free after good link play by Brennan and Charlie Mooney to find Sam Curran, who drew a foul.
A crucial moment came when Judes broke through, only for Flynn to produce a big save and Danny Ryan to clear the danger. At the other end, the half-forward line of Brennan, Greene and O’Brien dominated in the air, and the inside trio of Mills, Coakley and Murphy always looked threatening, though a series of wides and shorts meant Lucan did not fully capitalise. Near half-time, Whelan’s huge delivery led to Murphy’s second goal off the ground after Mills’ initial shot was saved, before further Lucan scores from a Mills free and another composed Coakley point left the interval score 3-5 to 0-7.
Half-time substitute Derry Ware opened the second-half scoring, quickly followed by a Mills free won by another powerful Brennan run. Captain Mark Byrne’s introduction lifted the group even though injury curtaled his involvement, while Rian Doherty and Senan Bolger entered in the third quarter to add energy and composure. Although Judes enjoyed a strong spell to close the gap, Lucan’s experience in tight games helped them stay calm.
Costello, immense throughout, nailed a long-range free, and when Judes hit a goal and forced a throw-in on the 20, Lucan’s leaders responded: Costello won the ruck and the free, Brennan’s shot was saved and Micheal O’Brien buried the rebound. In the closing stages, Charlie Hughes came in and had a major impact, twice helping turnovers that led to points for Bolger and Doherty and then winning a free that Mills converted. Even after a late Judes goal narrowed the margin, Mills pointed another free and a flowing move finished by Sam Curran sealed a 4-12 to 2-13 victory for Lucan Sarsfields.
This triumph was the culmination of 11 months of unwavering dedication from an exceptional group of players, whose coachability and collective growth shone through every challenge. The starting lineup—Evan Flynn; Brian Whelan, Karl Quinn, Danny Ryan; Sam Curran, Killian Costello, Patrick Cosgrove; Charlie Mooney, Donncha Mac Fiaich; Micheal O’Brien, Henry Greene, Oscar Brennan; David Coakley, Jack Mills, Paidi Murphy—laid the foundation with their skill and grit. Subs Derry Ware, Mark Byrne, Rian Doherty, Senan Bolger and Charlie Hughes delivered pivotal moments off the bench, proving the squad’s depth. Injured warriors James Duffy and Jack McCarthy remained integral in spirit and preparation, while earlier contributors Gavin Lynch, Ciarán O’Sullivan and Fionn Delaney paved the path to the final. Late additions Davis Quinn and Liam Whelan ramped up competition through fierce training, and the extended panel—Eoin Darcy, Eoghan Burke, James O’Neill and Conall Duffy—ensured high-intensity sessions that sharpened everyone.
Camogie
Finals action for both our Under 21 Camogie teams this weekend with our U21B side facing Cuala in the Shield Final in the 12th Lock on Sunday at 12.30pm before our U21A side take on Ballyboden St Edna’s in the Championship final at 2pm on the main pitch in Abbotstown.
Let’s get out and support both sides and hopefully bring back more silverware to the 12th Lock on Sunday evening!

Academy
Our academy for boys and girls aged 4-7 runs every Saturday morning. All children are welcome to come along - no need to sign up in advance, just turn up and give it a try. Age group times are as follows; 2020/2021 - 9am, 2019 – 10am and 2018 – 11am.
