Lucan Sarsfields proudly hosted Puck for Palestine on the Easter Bank Holiday Monday with 40 teams competing in an U11 hurling and camogie blitz to raise funds for GAA Palestine.
Despite the weather not playing ball at times, the blitz was a resounding success with nearly 400 children and their mentors and parents passing through the club on the day👏🏼👏🏼
Each child who played receiving a certificate of attendance and a GAA Palestine water bottle to commemorate the day and walked away with a smile on their face.
Representatives from GAA Palestine attended and were busy selling merchandise and talking to people about the work done to date in the West Bank and future plans which involve bringing a group of children to Ireland during the month of July.
Dublin senior hurler John Bellew was on hand to watch the games in the afternoon and give the Lucan boys some advice and encouragement and to sign anything they put in front of him!
The initial fundraising target of €5,000 was smashed with over €10,000 raised to date thanks to the incredible generosity of the GAA community and those interested in the plight of those less fortunate in the West Bank.
A special thank you to Ollie Skehan for organising this event and to all the volunteers who made it possible on the day!
