Puck for Palestine
We are hosting “Puck for Palestine”, an U11 hurling and camogie blitz raising funds for GAA Palestine. All welcome for what will be a great day, please see details below

Where: Lucan Sarsfields GAA club
When: April 21st, Easter Bank Holiday Monday from 9am to 6pm.

Our aim is to raise at least €5,000. These funds will help develop facilities for GAA clubs in the West Bank in Palestine and to help with the costs of bringing players and mentors to Ireland during the summer. Donations can be made through the following link; https://whydonate.com/en/fundraising/puck-for-palestine

Nearly 30 clubs from Dublin, Kildare and Meath taking part - half of these are bringing both hurling and camogie teams.

The impact and significance of the money raised will not be lost on those who take part and everything that’s good about the GAA, whether it’s in Lucan or Tulkarm will be on show in the form of people volunteering their time and energy ahead of the event and on the day.

Every child who plays will receive a cert of attendance and branded GAA Palestine water bottle with additional merchandise on sale on the day.

The club café will be open for the day and the bar will open at 2pm with food and drink for young and old available to those attending (food truck, ice-cream van) whilst entertainment will be provided by a local ukulele band The Walkeleles
Overall, the focus of this event is community, camaraderie and commitment to a greater cause – the young children of Palestine and the smiles the beauty of the GAA can bring to their difficult lives.

We are looking for volunteers for this event as well as donations of raffle prizes. If you can help in any way, please contact Ollie – 087 624 3560

Hurling
Inter Hurling Match Report: Scoil Uí Chonaill 0-24 (24) v Lucan Sarsfields 2-15 (21)
Date: 12-04-2025 | Venue: Scoil Uí Chonaill

Lucan Sarsfields mounted a spirited second-half comeback, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a sharp-shooting Scoil Uí Chonaill side who edged a high-scoring encounter by three points in blustery conditions on Saturday evening.

First Half:

Playing into a strong wind and a low-setting sun, Lucan Sars struggled to find their rhythm early on. Scoil Uí Chonaill made the most of the conditions, racing into a commanding lead with clinical points from their forwards, notably number 15 who bagged four points from play in the opening period.

Lucan were wasteful early, registering wides from Kaygen Cooney, Cian McHugh, and Anthony McNulty. However, they did show flashes of quality with some team scores finished by Mark Gormley and Darragh Meehan who finished the moves with two well-taken scores, Joey Dunne buried a much-needed goal in the 22nd minute, closing the gap.

Despite the goal, Scoil Uí Chonaill maintained their accuracy up front, with consistent scoring from their half-forwards and full-forward line. By the break, they led 0-15 to 1-4, fully deserving their eight-point advantage.

Second Half:

With the wind at their backs, Lucan Sarsfields came out with renewed intensity. Brendan Kavanagh and Kaygen Cooney chipped away at the lead, while Darragh Meehan and Evin Dowling converted crucial frees.

Joey Dunne continued to impress, adding to his first-half goal with a fine point in the 42nd minute. As the game opened up, Lucan’s pace began to cause problems. Evin Dowling led a purple patch with three points, bringing Lucan to within striking distance.

But Scoil Uí Chonaill’s composure under pressure proved decisive. Their number 14 was unerring from placed balls, while their number 15 remained a constant threat, finishing with an impressive tally from play.

The late drama arrived in the 61st minute when Alex Hickey rifled home Lucan’s second goal, reducing the gap to just three points. However, Scoil Uí Chonaill added a late insurance score to seal the win.
Lucans full back line had a strong performance with Paddy Ryan, Alex Hickey and James Finn putting in solid performances. Anthony Mc Nulty returned from holidays with renewed vigour with a performance as polished as his tan.

Final Score:
Scoil Uí Chonaill 0-24
Lucan Sarsfields 2-15

Lucan will take heart from their second-half fightback, but the damage done in the first half.
